Boston College vs. Florida State Game Preview

The Boston College Eagles and Florida State Seminoles face off in Week 1 of college football at Doak Campbell Stadium. Boston College is entering a new era under head coach Bill O’Brien, who steps in after Jeff Hafley’s departure to join the Green Bay Packers. The Eagles’ success this season will largely depend on the performance of quarterback Thomas Castellanos.

Florida State enters following a very disappointing loss to Georgia Tech in Week 0. The reality is that FSU needs way more from transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, who struggled in the season opener mainly due to his lack of aggressiveness in downfield shots. Everything felt safe with a plethora of checkdowns and short passes.

While Florida State has traditionally dominated this matchup, holding a 14-4 record over the past 20 seasons. The Eagles last defeated the Seminoles in the 2017 Red Bandanna Game with a commanding 35-3 win.

Even though FSU has held the upper hand since then, Boston College has kept many games close. Five of the last 10 meetings were decided by one score or less, and even some of the two-score losses in 2013 and 2015 were tighter than the final scores indicated.
