For Boise State, the key player to watch is quarterback Maddux Madsen. Last season, he had the luxury of playing under center with running back Ashton Jeanty in the backfield. As a result, he was able to put together a stellar season with the space Jeanty created and threw for over 3000 yards. In Week 1 this season, he threw for 225 yards, and completed less than 55% of his passes.
The key player to watch for the Eastern Washington Eagles will be running back Marceese Yetts. He had six carries for 59 yards in Week 1, averaging nearly 10 yards per carry. If he can get going in Week 2 against the Broncos, the Eagles might be able to pull off an upset.
