Stand-up comedian Bill Burr reacts to sports commentator Jason Whitlock’s alleged hate for Deion Sanders and his NFL son Shedeur Sanders, who is fresh off making his first NFL start and winning it for the Cleveland Browns.
It’s no secret that Whitlock doesn’t like either Sanders. He has often criticized Deion’s coaching style and leadership while also taking a dig at Shedeur for enjoying his father’s status in football.
On Thursday, Burr took it out on Whitlock for his hate towards the Sanders clan. He went personal against Whitlock, concerning his status as a commentator and not being able to reach the ceiling in his profession. He said:
“Why would you root against him because he’s Deion’s son? I get the whole Rolex and the Rolls-Royce around school, I get that. But dude, you don’t root against a kid. Paul, the guy likes to dress nicely. And here’s the deal: he likes to have a nice car. He likes the women who like that stuff. Who is he hurting? The egos of fat sportswriters wearing Hawaiian shirts who never came close to top-shelf pussy. That’s why they don’t like him.”

Does Jason Whitlock Really Dislike Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders?
Jason Whitlock indeed doesn’t take Deion Sanders seriously as a college football head coach. He instead calls him “a marketing guru, brand ambassador, not a head coach.”
“Deion was a great player but he’s not a leader,” Whitlock said in Sept. 2023. “The man at one point said ‘there is no talent gap’ and then at the same press conference five minutes later it was ‘you better get me now’, with that inference that he knows what they need and knows what they’re going to replace it with. It’s all about Deion, it’s not ‘US’, it’s not ‘WE’. Deion talks about ‘ME’ all the time. That’s not what leaders and head coaches do.”
Whitlock’s criticism also extended to Shedeur Sanders ever since he arrived in Colorado with Deion Sanders from Jackson State. According to Whitlock, because of being Deion’s son, Shedeur has received more hype than he probably deserves.
Earlier, when Shedeur was drafted in the fifth round despite having first round projection, Whitlock blamed his Hall of Fame father, saying:
“The inability for people to recognize that Deion Sanders screwed up his son’s NFL Draft process speaks to the level of racial and celebrity idolatry rampant in American culture. It’s never a black celeb’s fault. Sins of the father visited on the son. Obvious.”
So, it does appear that Whitlock has some reservations about Sanders.
