One of the biggest talking points of the offseason was head coach Bill Belichick’s arrival on the North Carolina Tar Heels. After a tremendous NFL career, Belichick is testing himself at the college football level. On Saturday, the Tar Heels got fall training camp started. Unsurprisingly, Belichick, who is worth $70 million, is in the spotlight. This was evident with the attention he got at the podium on the first day of camp.
An image of him at the podium was posted on X by the “Inside Carolina” account.

While Belichick had success at the NFL level, that does not necessarily mean he will succeed in college. While there is a higher level of competition in the NFL, college football has different challenges. Fans will be watching closely to see how Belichick handles his college athletes.

Bill Belichick Is Excited To Get Training Camp Started
Ever since Bill Belichick was hired by the North Carolina Tar Heels in December, there has been a lot of anticipation for this season from fans. This level of anticipation has been shared by Belichick himself. At his opening press conference before practice on Saturday, he spoke about his excitement to get started.
“It’s almost football season here. Very excited to get started,” Belichick said. “These guys have worked really hard, the staff and the players, in terms of the offseason program, their conditioning and all that. So we’re, we’re excited to get out on the field. We’ve got a couple days here of acclimation, so it’ll not be our full training camp practices yet, but it’s just part of the process.”
Belichick went on to speak about how the team has plenty of new players from last season (70 from last year and 40 from the spring). As a result, he said that it could take some time before the team is running as a cohesive unit. However, Belichick is confident that the team has done a good job of closing the gap throughout the offseason and will come together without much of an issue.
Belichick and the Tar Heels will start their season on September 1 against TCU. The team is coming off a 6-7 year and has been on a steady decline over the past three seasons. Fans will be watching eagerly to see if Belichick can help the team become more competitive in the ACC.
