North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick may have built his career with the New England Patriots, winning six Super Bowl titles alongside Tom Brady. However, he has since fallen out with the team’s ownership and shocked many when he banned scouts from his old team from the UNC facility.
After finally getting his first win as a college coach against the Charlotte 49ers. 20-3, on Saturday, Belichick spoke with the press and was asked about his banning scouts from the New England Patriots.
“It’s clear I’m not welcome there at their facility. So they’re not welcome at ours. It’s pretty simple,” Belichick told reporters.

The relationship between Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots, particularly owner Robert Kraft, is a very complicated one, with the two parties trading shots against one another, with Kraft saying on the “Dudes on Dudes podcast with Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski” that he took a risk with Belichick when he hired him in 2000.
Belichick fired back, saying that it was he who took the risk for joining the patriots, which was struggling at that time.
“As I told Robert[ Kraft] multiple times through the years, I took a big risk by taking the New England Patriots head coaching job,” he said in July. “I already had an opportunity to be the head coach of the New York Jets, but the ownership situation was unstable.”
When Belichick left the team, it was believed to be a mutual parting, though many also believed that the two sides had a falling out.

Bill Belichick Not Actually Banned by New England Patriots As He Has Claimed
Despite Belichick claiming that the Patriots front office banned him from their facilities, he was actually not banned by his former team, with owner Robert Kraft saying that he is open to building a statue of Belichick alongside their Tom Brady statue.
He was also present during Tom Brady’s Hall of Fame ceremony at Foxboro, even giving an emotional speech as his former player received such a big honor. He would not have been able to attend it if he were truly banned, as it was held in a Patriots facility.
