Despite now coaching in the college ranks, North Carolina Tar Heels head coach Bill Belichick still likes to throw jabs at the New York Jets.

Bill Belichick’s Latest Take on the New York Jets
While appearing on the “Let’s Go!” podcast, Belichick was asked about how the average NFL team can find their next quarterback.
His response was gold:
“Well, you might take a look at the ones the Jets have released. Geno Smith and Sam Darnold. They’ve done pretty well.”

No one knows how to find and coach a great quarterback like Belichick, seeing as he and Tom Brady were together for two decades and won six championships.
But also, it is somewhat comical to watch him tear the Jets a new one after he and the Patriots dominated them during his long career in New England.
Belichick went 39-12 against the Jets in his coaching career, including playoffs. His 39 wins against the Jets are the most against one team in his career.
Of course, New York just cut ties with another great quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, and that surely won’t backfire, right?
The North Carolina Tar Heels’ 2025 Outlook
With Belichick taking over in Chapel Hill, the hunger for greatness on the gridiron has never been larger. This will be Belichick’s first stint as a college head coach, which is why North Carolina might be the most intriguing team in all of college football.
The Tar Heels have not won more than 10 games in a season since 2015, when Larry Fedora was the head coach. In fact, since the 1997 season, this program has won 10 or more games in a season just one time. That is a real problem, which is why the school is mainly known for basketball.

However, Belichick’s ability to recruit and gather talent can help him build a great team to possibly finish up his legendary coaching career.
In a conference with the reigning ACC champion Clemson Tigers, the resurgent Miami Hurricanes led by Carson Beck, and the sneaky SMU Mustangs, the Tar Heels are likely going to be up against some adversity.
But with Belichick in charge, the ceiling could be quite high in the long run in Chapel Hill.
