Heading into the 2025 NFL season, the Baltimore Ravens are considered to be one of the top Super Bowl contenders. With one of the most dynamic offenses in the league, it was no surprise to see the team make some additions on the defensive end during the 2025 NFL draft.
One of those additions was former Western Michigan cornerback Bilhal Kone. Kone was selected by the team in the sixth round of the draft. On Thursday, the Ravens played their first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts. Late in the first quarter, the Colts had the ball, and a pass was thrown into the end zone.
Although the pass was incomplete, Kone and Colts wide receiver Ashton Dulin made contact near the sideline. Kone fell to the ground and was visibly in pain while grabbing his left leg.
The athletic trainers promptly carted him off the field and Ravens head coach John Harbaugh spoke about Kone’s injury after the game.
“Even seeing him in the locker room just now is really hard. Very hard,” Harbaugh said. “But I told him the sun will come up tomorrow. You’ll get this taken care of. You’ll be rehabbing, you’re part of our team and you’ll be back. So it’s just not on the time that you hope for.”
Harbaugh also announced that Kone will be out for the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his knee.
“BK is gonna be out for the season it looks like,” John Harbaugh added. “He has a torn ligament in his knee, unfortunately, so I’ll just tell you that right now. Other than that I think we’re in pretty good shape with injuries.”

How Does Bilhal Kone’s Injury Impact the Baltimore Ravens?
While the injury to Bilhal Kone is disappointing for the rookie cornerback, it should not impact the Baltimore Ravens’ season severely. Kone was listed as the third-string right cornerback on the Ravens’ depth chart, according to ESPN. As a result, it appears likely that the Ravens will be able to manage the loss of Kone this season.
Despite losing Kone in the first quarter, Baltimore defeated Indianapolis 24-16 on Thursday. The Ravens are in action again on Saturday, Aug. 16, for their second preseason game, this time against the Dallas Cowboys.
