The 2024 season is one of the most anticipated in college football history, and that’s no different for the Big 12. With Oklahoma and Texas leaving for the SEC, Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah joining the fray, and the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams, there’s plenty to discuss at the Big 12’s Media Days this week. And to kick off the festivities, the Big 12 announced an upcoming 24/7 audio station.
Big 12, TuneIn Launching 24/7 Audio Station
With its contract with SiriusXM up for renewal, the Big 12 opted to begin a new venture with TuneIn, a global audio streaming service. According to Sports Business Journal’s Ben Portnoy, singer and songwriter Garth Brooks — an Oklahoma State alum and member of the conference’s Business Advisory Board — helped facilitate the deal.
(As a quick aside, Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd is also a part of the board — the more you know).
The new conference-branded 24/7 audio network will launch before the Big 12’s college football season kickoff on Aug. 29 and will be free to listen to. However, a premium option will also offer live game commentary for football and basketball (men’s and women’s).
Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark stated, “I’m thrilled to partner with the entire TuneIn team. TuneIn will be an incredible resource and platform for the Big 12 as we continue to advance our narrative and extend our reach.”
TuneIn is a leader in sports audio coverage, with its premium service providing access to coverage of over 100 Division 1 NCAA programs.
“TuneIn allows us to connect across a variety of platforms, delivering around-the-clock commentary and coverage of Big 12 sporting events,” said Big 12 chief marketing officer Tyrel Kirkham.
“TuneIn is a leader in sports audio coverage, making them an ideal partner to expand our content offerings and reach to sports fans whether they’re at home, at a tailgate, or on the road.”

The conference is doing its best to prepare for the House vs. NCAA settlement payouts. Last month, the Big 12 discussed private equity and naming rights deals — Allstate 12, anyone? — to help bring in revenue. While nothing has come to fruition on that front yet, the new partnership with TuneIn is a significant step in bolstering the conference’s media presence for 2024 and beyond.
