The Orange Bowl matchup between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Oregon Ducks seems to be slipping away from Texas. Behren Morton and Co. have been ineffective on both ends while the Ducks are thriving.
The Red Raiders had a disappointing first half, going scoreless while the Ducks had six points on the board. With 11 minutes to go in the third quarter, the Ducks are now leading by 13 points while the Red Raiders remain scoreless.
There’s still time for Texas to turn this around, but their efforts aren’t convincing enough for the fans to think that they can come back from this. Morton is taking most of the blame because of his poor performance so far.
He is 8 of 17 for 48 yards and 1 interception in the third quarter. Fans aren’t holding back while criticizing the Texas quarterback.
“Behren Morton is absolutely driving me insane, he’s just throwing to his first option without even reading the field, he’s lucky Texas tech has this defense. Something needs to change or he’s gonna get benched because you can’t be doing this in this position with this game,” a fan WROTE.

“Behren Morton worst CFP QB of all time?” a fan asked.
“Behren Morton is bad. Is he hurt or something? Bad decisions, bad throws, bad mechanics. Everything just bad,” a fan wrote.
“PLEASE BENCH BEHREN MORTON,” a fan wrote.
“Behren Morton is killing his team all by himself. His effort in the first half has been cheeks,” a fan wrote.
Morton’s performance is unacceptable. The team’s quarterback can’t be so lost during any game, let alone a quarterfinal matchup against a strong and capable team like the Oregon Ducks.

Behren Morton wasn’t 100% Before the Game
This is the first game for the Red Raiders since they played BYU in the first week of December. A break so long often derails a team’s campaign. Texas had won its last four games with big margins while restricting its opponents to under double digits.
Nearly a month-long gap seems to have caused problems in their momentum as well. At the same time, long breaks help players recover after they’ve suffered injuries or have felt discomfort. Despite the break, Morton wasn’t at his 100%.
“Yeah, it’s been great getting the 20-something days that we got, but I’m feeling closer to 80-85 percent. It’s been good, we’ve gotten guys healthy this week so it’s been a good week of prep. As close as I wanna be for sure. I’m not 100 percent but it’s a closer percent to 100 for sure though,” Morton told the media.
Interestingly, he stated that he was only 70% when the Red Raiders faced BYU, and he had a 200+ yards game and two touchdowns.
