Red Sox Pundit Makes Clear Choice In Alex Bregman Vs Bo Bichette Fit For Boston

Heading into the offseason, Alex Bregman and Bo Bichette were predicted to be two of the most sought-after free agents on the market. Perhaps surprisingly, both players still remain unsigned, with spring training less than two months away.

A number of teams have been keeping tabs on the pair, one of them being the Boston Red Sox. With plenty of question marks in their infield, acquiring one of the two stars would certainly fit Boston’s needs.

Naturally, this has prompted plenty of debate as to who the organization should go for. Though Bo Bichette is four years younger than Alex Bregman, analyst and content creator Robbie Hyde believes the latter is a safer bet for the Red Sox.

Hyde explained his thoughts on Wednesday’s episode of “Monster Territory.”

“Let’s say Bichette is at second or third, I think it’s fair to say you would be a bit more worried about the defense. Bregman improves that,” Hyde said (Timestamp: 34:50). “Yes, you can talk about the age, you can talk about all that, but you know what you’re getting with Bregman.

“In my opinion, I’d rather have that guy at third base, who’s obviously chasing some Hall of Fame kind of of numbers and he’s a winner. I just like the fit, I just like it more. It barely beats out Bo.”

Both Bo Bichette and Alex Bregman enjoyed strong 2025 seasons.

Bichette helped the Toronto Blue Jays win the AL East for the first time since 2015, batting .311 with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs in the regular season.

Bregman, meanwhile, established himself as a fan favorite at Fenway Park with his fine performances. Ending the regular season with a .273 batting average, 18 home runs and 62 RBIs, the infielder helped the Red Sox end their playoff drought, earning his third All-Star selection in the process.

The Red Sox Will Have To Fend Off Stiff Competition To Sign Alex Bregman

Though Alex Bregman potentially re-signing with the Boston Red Sox is a move that makes plenty of sense for both club and player, the Red Sox will have to fend off stiff competition if they are to succeed in their pursuit of the third baseman.

Boston is not the only team looking to add quality to their infield this winter, and reports claim the likes of the Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks, Toronto Blue Jays and Detroit Tigers are also actively negotiating with Bregman’s camp.
