MLB Insider Delivers Strong Verdict On Kyle Tucker Or Cody Bellinger As Ideal Mets Addition

Two of the top free agents of the offseason, Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger, remain unsigned with spring training less than two months away. A number of teams, including the New York Mets, have reportedly been keeping tabs on the pair.

Featuring on Tuesday’s episode of “The Show,” insider Jon Heyman of the New York Post offered his opinion on which of the two outfielders he thinks the Mets should go for.

According to Heyman, though Kyle Tucker is the “better player” of the two, Cody Bellinger is a much better fit for the Mets’ needs.

“To me, (Kyle) Tucker is the better player. But to me, Tucker doesn’t really fit the Mets,” Heyman said (Timestamp: 12:14). “Bellinger’s the guy who fits. He could play center, right now, the Mets have a question at center.

“He can play first, right now the Mets have a question at first. I don’t know if he’s going to be half the money, but he’s certainly going to be less money (than Tucker).”

“The Perfect David Stearns Free agent Acquisition” – Insider Predicts Mets To Sign Cody Bellinger

On Dec. 18, WFAN’s Tommy Lugauer explained why he thinks the Mets will prioritize Cody Bellinger’s acquisition.

“Bellinger is the perfect David Stearns free agent acquisition,” Lugauer said. “So, I believe Bellinger will be a Met, and I think that David Stearns will go beyond the years that he has given other players.”

Playing for the New York Yankees in 2025, Cody Bellinger enjoyed an impressive season. The outfielder batted .272 with 29 home runs and 98 RBIs, playing a key role in helping his team qualify for the postseason.

Though Yankees general manager Brian Cashman expressed interest in re-signing Bellinger during a press conference that took place earlier in the winter, the two-time All-Star may well find himself a home on the other side of town by the time the new season rolls around.

According to projections, Bellinger is poised to secure a contract in the range of $160 million. Kyle Tucker, on the other hand, will most likely cost significantly more, as reports claim he has set his sights on a $400 million deal.
