Freddy Peralta Trade Rumors: MLB Insider Gives Major Reason Why Dodgers, Mets, Red Sox, Braves Are In

Since making his big league debut in 2018, Freddy Peralta has established himself as an extremely reliable starting pitcher for the Milwaukee Brewers. In his time at the American Family Field so far, he has earned himself two All-Star selections.

Despite being an important part of the Brewers’ pitching staff, Peralta may be on the move this winter. Set to be a free agent after the 2026 season, Milwaukee is unlikely to re-sign the starter and may decide to cash in while it still can.

According to reports, all the top MLB franchises are highly interested in acquiring Peralta. Making an appearance on Wednesday’s episode of “Pinstripe Territory,” The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal explained why that is the case.

“There are a lot of teams in on him. I’ve heard everyone – from the Dodgers, to the Mets, to the Red Sox, to the Braves (are interested),” Rosenthal said (Timestamp: 12:07). “Because his salary for the season is $8 million, and that is a relative pittance for a starting pitcher of his quality.”

Freddy Peralta May Even Generate More Trade Interest Than Two-Time AL Cy Young Winner, Claims Executive

Along with Freddy Peralta, another highly sought-after starting pitcher may also be on the trade block this offseason. Detroit Tigers ace, Tarik Skubal, fresh off an incredible season that saw him win his second consecutive AL Cy Young award, may be shipped as he heads into the final year of team control.

While Skubal undoubtedly possesses more quality, an anonymous MLB executive believes Freddy Peralta may attract more suitors, as his significantly lower salary may prove to be too good a deal to pass up.

ESPN’s Jesse Rogers wrote about the executive’s claims in an article published on Tuesday.

“Meanwhile, one executive opined the Milwaukee Brewers should have more offers for Freddy Peralta than the Tigers do for Skubal — even though the latter is a two-time Cy Young winner,” Rogers wrote.

“Yes, there is a talent gap but perhaps not enough to offset the salary difference between the two for 2026. Teams simply love that the Brewers ace is owed just $8 million next season.”

Tarik Skubal finished the 2025 season with a 13-6 record, 2.21 ERA and 241 strikeouts. Freddy Peralta, meanwhile, posted a 17-6 record, recording a 2.70 ERA and 204 strikeouts.
Both players helped their respective teams qualify for the postseason, earning All-Star honors each.
