The Auburn Tigers have been incredibly busy in the transfer portal this offseason. Attempting to rebuild their roster after a lackluster 2024 campaign, it was imperative for head coach Hugh Freeze to nail this portal cycle.
Stay completely up to date with our exclusive Auburn Transfer Portal Central, featuring all the comings and goings from Auburn in the 2024-25 transfer portal cycle.
Auburn Transfer Portal News
Tracking the latest comings and goings from Auburn is certainly easier than others. The Tigers have been incredibly active in the early stage of this cycle and have secured notable commitments.
It was announced that Auburn has also moved to keep EDGE Amaris Williams from transferring. A former five-star recruit, Williams played sparingly during the 2024 season, but should be expected to have a potential breakout year in 2025.
On Tuesday, the Tigers also officially announced four signings, most notably, MAC CB of the Year and CFN All-American Raion Strader.

Auburn Transfer Portal Rumors
The latest rumors for the Auburn transfer portal cycle indicate that the Tigers will host a handful of visits to close out the week. Auburn has been incredibly hot with their visits and has received several commitments either following or during their recent visits, and should be considered a heavy lean to land at least a few more before the Christmas break.
Maryland’s Preston Howard and LSU’s Xavier Atkins are reportedly set to visit on Friday, December 20. This comes after former Florida EDGE T.J. Searcy and former Tennessee LB Jalen Smith were set to visit on Thursday, December 19.
Auburn Transfer Portal Ranking
With much left to be decided, we turn to the winners and losers per week of the portal season to rank each team. As such, Auburn was clearly one of the biggest winners as the clocks turned from Week 1 to Week 2.
Championships aren’t won in the offseason, but they certainly can be lost if teams don’t fix their previous season ills. It’s clear that Hugh Freeze & Co. recognized and have since attempted to rectify their biggest issues from the 2024 season with this portal class.
They now have a potentially dynamic two-quarterback situation with both options offering upgrades to Payton Thorne. Robinson is a serviceable back but it’s likely by committee to replace Jarquez Hunter.
There is work left to be done — noticeably at wide receiver — but the offense may be in much better hands going forward. And as such, the Tigers were listed as one of our biggest winners of the first week.
