Auburn vs. Georgia Prediction: Malaki Starks, Dawgs Defense to Dominate Struggling Tigers Offense

Looking to bounce back from two very different kinds of defeats, see which side to back in our Auburn vs. Georgia Week 6 prediction.

So much of college football comes down to luck of the schedule—or lack thereof. For the Auburn Tigers, facing the Georgia Bulldogs this Saturday couldn’t be timed any worse.

As the Tigers struggle to find their offensive rhythm, they’re set to face a Georgia squad eager to bounce back after a tough loss to Alabama. It’s a recipe for trouble.

An upset seems unlikely, but can the Tigers keep it close against a fired-up Bulldogs team? Check out our Auburn vs. Georgia prediction before placing your bets.

College Football Network’s Football Playoff Meter and the Vegas spread sat aligned on this one as both have the Bulldogs as heavy favorites. With a spread of 21 points and a total of 50, Vegas is low on Auburn’s offense against the Bulldogs, implying a final score in the range of 35-14.

The line originally sat around that elusive 24-point mark early in the week, but money placed on the Tigers brought it back down to an even three-touchdown game for the Bulldogs on Saturday.

    Auburn’s Winning Probability

The Football Playoff Meter is aligned with the Vegas line, making the Tigers 23.5-point underdogs. That translates to a minuscule 5.2% win probability, the Tigers’ second-lowest win probability of any game remaining on the schedule, behind a 4.4% win probability in the Iron Bowl.

    • at Georgia: 5.2%
    • at Missouri: 8.3%
    • at Kentucky 25.1%
    • vs. Vanderbilt: 70.3%
    • vs. UL-Monroe: 82.8%
    • vs. Texas A&M: 38.1%
    • at Alabama: 4.4%

    Georgia’s Winning Probability

Conversely, Georgia has a 94.8% chance to win on Saturday. FPM would seem to think that this is a break in the schedule for the Bulldogs between brutal games at Alabama last week and at Texas later this season.

    • vs. Auburn: 94.8%
    • vs. Mississippi State: 98.9%
    • at Texas: 37.4%
    • vs. Florida: 94.5%
    • at Ole Miss: 55.6%
    • vs. Tennessee: 64.1%
    • vs. UMass: 99.9%
    • vs. Georgia Tech: 90.8%

    Prediction for Auburn vs. Georgia

I’ve made my stance on Auburn’s situation pretty clear: it’s a mess. The same boosters who pushed out Bryan Harsin and forced the program into hiring Hugh Freeze are now upset that Freeze didn’t land a top transfer quarterback.

Freeze appears to be deflecting some of the blame onto his QBs, but no matter where you point the finger, the result is the same—this offense is a disaster. Even when Payton Thorne showed some life early against Oklahoma, it faded fast, and a disastrous fourth quarter sealed their fate.

Now, they’ll look to stop the bleeding against … Georgia. To me, this game is less about beating the Bulldogs and more about Auburn battling itself.

Georgia will likely take care of business in a bounce-back effort before heading into a tough October slate. The real question is whether Auburn self-destructs or simply loses to a more talented team. From what I’m hearing around the program, a meltdown is in play, and if Freeze switches quarterbacks again, things could spiral quickly on the plains.

Auburn’s defense is solid, and Carson Beck might face some of the same issues he did against Alabama, but I don’t see the Tigers sustaining drives. If it goes south, it could get ugly fast. I’d steer clear of the total, but if you’re looking for a bet, consider taking the under on Auburn’s team total.

I’m backing the Bulldogs in a blowout, even if the game stays under the total.

    Prediction: Georgia 38, Auburn 7
