Arizona State quarterback is coming off a strong season with the Sun Devils. After transferring to Arizona State from Michigan State last offseason, Leavitt got his opportunity to start. He ran with it, completing 216 of 350 passing attempts for 2885 yards and 24 TDs. In doing so, he led the Sun Devils to the Big 12 championship and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the college football playoff.
Leavitt is looking to continue his success in 2025 and has been working hard this offseason. While he has kept busy, he also takes time to be supportive of other members of the college football community. On Wednesday, Kansas State star QB Avery Johnson made an Instagram post telling his followers that he has big fans.
“Don’t switch on me, I got big plans,” Johnson wrote.

Sam Leavitt showed loved to Johnson with a two-word reaction in the comments.
“Ma dawg,” Leavitt commented.

Johnson has been a member of the Kansas State Wildcats for two seasons. This past season, he got the opportunity to be the starter for the first time. He did a good job, completing 217 of 372 passing attempts for 2712 yards and 25 TDs.
Sam Leavitt Praises Former Teammate Cam Skattebo
Avery Johnson is not the only football player Sam Leavitt has supported this offseason. One of Leavitt’s former teammates, running back Cam Skattebo, is set to start his pro career in the NFL. In early July, in a conversation with USA Today, Leavitt was asked if he thinks his former teammate can become a true go-to option in the NFL.
“Yeah, I mean for sure,” Leavitt said. “People see the type of player he is on the field, his contact balance, his grit, his strength, his trucking ability, his vision, but they don’t see his mental aspect, his IQ, how he views the game, how he views himself.
“We’re sitting in practice one day and he goes up and tells a lineman a different way how he wants them to block an inside zone. He wants them to get more vertical on the step he wants to take. So, I’ve never really seen a running back coach the lineman on how to block.”
Cam Skattebo was drafted in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft by the New York Giants. According to ESPN, he is the third option at RB behind Tyrone Tracy and Devin Singletary.
