Ashton Jeanty Mock Draft: Potential NFL Landing Spots for Boise State RB

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty is one of the best prospects in this year’s NFL draft.

The only question is, which team is going to take a chance on him?

    Ashton Jeanty at Boise State

Despite not winning the Heisman, there might not have been a better overall player in the country last season.

Jeanty became an All-American at the highest level as he rushed for more than 2,600 yards and 29 touchdowns (both led the Football Bowl Subdivision). The year before that, he rushed for a modest 1,347 yards and 14 touchdowns while also adding 43 receptions for 569 yards and five touchdown catches.

Simply put, he looks to be the best overall offensive player in the entire draft. But again, which team does he fit best with?

He could go anywhere from the Las Vegas Raiders in the top 10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers at pick No. 21 overall.

Jeanty Could Be the Final Piece in a Revamped Steelers Offense

While some have the Steelers selecting a quarterback in the first round, a running back makes sense for Pittsburgh at pick No. 21 overall.

With the team somewhat likely to sign Aaron Rodgers in the coming days, the franchise should have their starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. After trading for D.K. Metcalf this offseason and already possessing both George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth, all the team needs is a star at running back.

Right now, Jaylen Warren and Kenneth Gainwell are the team’s top two running backs. Warren is more of a No. 2 running back who can churn out the tough yards, while Gainwell is more of a third-down running back. This team is missing a running back who can do it all.

Jeanty is the closest thing to Alvin Kamara since Alvin Kamara. Adding him to an offense with possibly Aaron Rodgers under center, Metcalf and Pickens out wide, and Freiermuth at tight end sounds elite. Plus, the Steelers have one of the best defenses in football on the other side.

While teams like the Las Vegas Raiders, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals might want a running back for the future, Jeanty to the Steelers makes the most sense as things stand right now.
