It was a disappointing Saturday night for Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty, who lost the Heisman to Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter by a narrow margin. The Boise State RB couldn’t contain his true feelings and spoke about it later to the media after a grand ceremony in New York.
Ashton Jeanty Remains Determined After Failing To Win Heisman
From the beginning, Hunter and Jeanty were the most talked-about entities in the Heisman Trophy race. It was quite peculiar because two non-QB contestants were leading the chatter after a very long time, and in the end, it was the Colorado standout who came out on top.
While speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Jeanty explained that he would use this as motivation to do better and earn his place.
“Anytime you know you have something that you know you felt you should have accomplished or you know should have been given, obviously, everything is earned,” a disappointed Jeanty said.
“But I just, I really felt like I should have walked away with the award, but, you know, kudos to Travis and, you know, for winning. But yeah, as simple as that, work harder, go harder. There’s a lot more to come. This isn’t, you know, the end. This is just the beginning. So I just got to do that much more,” he added.

Jeanty finished second in the final Heisman rankings after voting results were released. He secured 309 first-place votes and 2,017 points, while Hunter stood on top with 552 first-place votes and 2,231 points.
Jeanty Inches Closer To Breaking Barry Sanders’ NCAA Record
Even though the Heisman was not in his fate, one NCAA record could possibly decorate Jeanty’s résumé before he makes his entry into the NFL. The Boise State RB is just 132 yards away from breaking Barry Sanders’ longstanding record of 2,628 yards that was set in 1988.
Jeanty currently stands at No. 4 with 2,497 yards and has played a pivotal role in the Broncos’ College Football Playoff berth. The team won an automatic bid and has a first-round bye. He also helped the program win a Mountain West title that helped them punch a playoff ticket.
