Willing to place a wager on Wyoming? Are the Rockets a risky bet or can you trust Toledo? If you’re going to take advantage of the Arizona Bowl odds, consider some of the following factors before you part with your hard-earned cash.

Over 10 years since Toledo levelled the head-to-head record against Wyoming, the two teams meet again with the Cowboys a slight favorite over their MAC opponent. We’ll get into why that’s the case in our Arizona Bowl prediction, but Wyoming hasn’t lost all season long when the oddsmakers have favored them, and there’s a good chance they will continue that trend on Saturday.

Another trend they’ll look to extend is covering the spread, with their last two games comfortably covering. Toledo has covered the only time this year that they were an underdog — against Illinois in the season-opener — but that was a long time ago and with a team that was at full strength, something the Rockets won’t be for this Arizona Bowl clash against the Cowboys.

Wrapping up the Arizona Bowl odds with the total points line, it would be a surprise if an offensive slugfest breaks out in the Arizona Bowl. Both teams have decent defenses, while offense hasn’t always been easy to come by for Wyoming this season and Toledo’s offense has been hurt by transfer portal departures ahead of the game. It’s not a recipe for the over to be hit.

There are four college football games on Saturday to compile your DFS team. If you’re new to DFS, Fanduel Superflex contests require you to select a quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, and a “Superflex” that can be any of the above or a tight end.

Your Arizona Bowl picks have been impacted by opt-outs, with Toledo missing starting quarterback DeQuan Finn and running back Peny Boone. The latter is still listed atop the depth chart for the Rockets, but our understanding is he won’t play in the bowl game and has narrowed down his next destination to FSU, Louisville, and Kentucky for the 2024 season.

Tucker Gleason will replace Finn under center, and he’s actually thrown four touchdowns already this season. However, he lacks the talent of their Baylor-bound former starter. Gleason is also likely to play second-fiddle to Wyoming quarterback Andrew Peasley, who is in a rich vein of scoring form, leading to a total of 225.22 fantasy points in the 2023 college football campaign.

With Boone out, Jacquez Stuart could shoulder a heavier load, and he’s already tallied over 100 fantasy points this year. With over 856 yards and five touchdowns, Wyoming’s Harrison Waylee is also a potential running back piece for your DFS lineup. Toledo’s Jerjuan Newton should be the go-to target for the backup QB, but he hasn’t scored a touchdown in several weeks.

Prediction for the Arizona Bowl

Okay, so we’ve furnished you with the Arizona Bowl odds and some DFS picks. Now, it’s time to close this thing out with our prediction.

After being toppled in the MAC Championship Game, can Toledo turn it up one last time in 2023? Will Wyoming win, giving them their best overall record since 1996?

Ordinarily, Toledo would have been a comfortable favorite for this game. Behind quarterback Finn and MAC Offensive Player of the Year Boone, they’ve been an offensive juggernaut, averaging 33.6 points per game. Under Jason Candle, they’ve been the team to beat in the MAC and a feared Group of Five opponent.

Furthermore, the Rockets’ defense has been as disruptive as the offense has been explosive. They’ve allowed just 20.6 points per game, with linebacker duo Dallas Gant and Daniel Bolden reigning terror on any player who can sneak past defensive lineman Judge Culpepper. Maxen Hook and Quinyon Mitchell have led a stingy secondary.

However, Mitchell will be missing for the Arizona Bowl, striking another blow to this Toledo team. With Wyoming quarterback Peasley on form and running back Waylee capable of causing havoc, they can’t afford to be missing such a key component of their defense.

Wyoming has had one of the more underrated defensive units in college football this fall. Seven players have logged at least one interception, while eight players have registered multiple sacks. That defense can contain the Rockets offense, Wyoming can overcome the Toledo defense, and the emotion of head coach Craig Bohl retiring should carry the team to a win.

Prediction: Toledo 14, Wyoming 23
