Arch Manning has had a disappointing debut as Texas‘ new QB1 after coming in with all the hype, as he did not do as well as many had hoped during the season opener against Ohio State. Despite this, many believe that Arch Manning could still recover and even go to the NFL next season and leave Texas behind.
During his “4thand1” podcast, legendary quarterback Cam Newton discussed these rumors of a possibility of him leaving Texas, and he believes that should this happen, he says Arch Manning should go to one specific team:
“The only reason that I feel will go to the NFL this season is if it is for the New Orleans Saints, that’s it,” he explained in his podcast. “Dallas Cowboys? Any other team? No.”
“Grew up in Louisiana, a hometown favorite, a hometown hero, cool, If it’s not that, get back,” he added. “The only way, if he dominates the rest of the season, is something where ‘hey, if I could take my talents to the next level because this is an opportunity that I cannot miss and may not come back again. it is for my hometown team, the New Orleans Saints.'”

Arch Manning was born and raised in New Orleans, playing at Isidore Newman High School in the city. He is a scion of the famed Manning family, being the nephew of legendary NFL quarterbacks, Peyton and Eli Manning. He eventually chose to go to Texas after a lot of hype surrounding his recruitment.
He spent two years as a backup quarterback at Texas, with him finally taking the reins from Quinn Ewers after the previous Texas QB1 left for the NFL draft earlier this year.

How Well Did Arch Manning Compare To Eli and Peyton Manning’s Debuts as Starters?
His less-than-stellar debut as a starter for Texas has now gotten many to ask if he could compare with his two superstar uncles, Peyton and Eli Manning. In his starting debut against Ohio State, Arch had 17 completions on 30 attempts, with a total of 130 passing yards and resulting in one touchdown. He also had 38 rushing yards during that game.
In contrast, his Uncle Peyton led Tennessee to a 10-9 win against Washington State in 1994, finishing 7 of 14 for 79 yards in his debut as a starter. Meanwhile, Eli lost his first game as a starter for Ole Miss, as he was 24 of 39 for 265 yards, with this resulting in just one touchdown. The Rebels lost that game in 2001, 27-21.
