Arch Manning was among the most talked-about topics in the offseason this year, even though he only played in a couple of games in 2024. Paul Finebaum and many other analysts declared him the next best thing, a potential Heisman Trophy winner, and even projected him to be the No.1 NFL Draft prospect.
While some analysts weighed in on the massive hype around Arch Manning and shared their concerns over the unrealistic expectations around him.
After Texas’ matchup against Ohio State, Manning received a lot of flak from many fans and analysts for his underwhelming performance, something that also happened to Deion Sanders’ son Shedeur.
Ex NFL WR Dez Bryant weighed in on the criticism faced by the two quarterbacks:
“I feel bad for Shedeur Sanders and Arch Manning…All I see down my timeline is hate for each player.. These dudes wanna play football…Allow their play to determine if they are good or not…One game doesn’t define either QB… Both guys have what it takes to be great…I also understand we need talk to sell stories.
“Please stay out of mentions with the nonsense (racism..black or white sh*t) I wish we all was green if I’m being honest. I give real evaluations on what I see.. I don’t kiss a*s or do things to have a relationship with anybody…I have non biased conversations about the game I love…”

Arch Manning weighs in on his performance during Ohio State showdown
Texas struggled to put points on the table through most of the game, as Arch Manning struggled to complete his passes and score points for his team.
During a post-game press conference, Manning was asked how he felt after he was able to score one touchdown and got back in the game that led to a 14-7 loss.
Manning responded by saying it wasn’t good enough as they didn’t want to start the season with a loss. He further shared that they beat themselves a lot which started with him.
“Ultimately, not good enough. Obviously you don’t want to start off the season 0-1. They’re a good team, but I thought we beat ourselves a lot and that starts with me. I’ve got to play better for us to win. Can’t wait until the second half to get things going.” Manning said.
Texas will play against SJSU in Week 2 matchup on Sept. 6.
