The Texas Longhorns are positioned to win now, and quarterback Arch Manning is a key reason why.

What To Expect From Arch Manning
The Louisiana native is poised to step into the full-time starting role for the first time in his collegiate career.
On On3’s “Andy & Ari” podcast, analysts Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman discussed why Manning is set up for success as he takes over from Quinn Ewers, who is headed to the NFL.
In limited action last year, Manning completed nearly 68% of his passes for 939 yards and nine touchdowns. He also added 108 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound quarterback possesses the ability to challenge defenses both through the air and on the ground.
While the team is set to lose key offensive players to the NFL, such as wide receivers Matthew Golden and Isaiah Bond, Manning’s talent level is still high enough to potentially lead this team to new heights.
Texas Looks To Win a Title in 2025
The Texas Longhorns fell short of winning both an SEC title and a national championship last season. However, they did make a deep run to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff.
With Manning assuming the starting quarterback role, this team has the potential to position itself ahead of programs like Alabama, Mississippi, and LSU while competing with the likes of Georgia and Tennessee. If Manning can protect the ball and effectively utilize his returning offensive weapons, such as 1,000-yard running back Quintrevion Wisney and receiver Ryan Wingo, the team’s potential is significant.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian needs to ensure his team achieves at least 11 wins, especially considering the structure of the College Football Playoff system. Securing key victories, which should be attainable in a conference like the SEC, will be crucial later in the season.
