‘It Goes by Quickly’ — Arch Manning Recalls Biggest Advice From Outgoing Texas QB Quinn Ewers

Arch Manning is ready to step into the shoes of his predecessor, Quinn Ewers, who is leaving the future Texas QB1 with some inspiring words.

Arch Manning’s era as the starting quarterback for Texas has many excited, including former QB1 Quinn Ewers, who has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Ewers took the Longhorns to the semifinals two years in a row and ended his 2024 campaign with a 13-3 record. Manning shared playing time with Ewers when the latter was dealing with an oblique injury.

Arch Manning on Advice From Former Starter Quinn Ewers

Texas seems to be in good hands. Manning proved that he was ready for the gridiron, winning both of his starts while recording five touchdowns in his 2024 campaign. With Ewers potentially leaving for the league, the veteran signal-caller is passing on the torch to Manning — along with some inspiring words.

In an interview with ESPN’s Marty Smith on Jan. 30, Manning was asked, “When you see that Quinn was ready to go, how did that go down where you learned, ‘Alright, it’s my time. It’s my team?’”

Manning replied, “Kind of right after the Ohio State game, I was with Quinn in the locker room. He was just like, ‘Enjoy every moment. It goes by quickly, so love all your teammates and have fun.’”

Manning, with his famous family background — his grandfather being Archie Manning, who played in the NFL and is a college football Hall of Famer, as well as his uncles Peyton and Eli being Super-Bowl winning QBs — has been a fan favorite.

Regarding this, he told Smith that the attention he gets is “undeserving,” but he has hopes that it will be “more deserving in the next few months.”

Manning becoming a starter has been a long time coming, as he always dreamed of playing for Texas, and after redshirting his first year, the 2024 season became his freshman campaign.

He passed for 939 yards and nine touchdowns while completing 67.8% of his passes. Now, barring any unplanned incidents, he is ready to see his childhood hopes come true.
