After producing one of his best performances in the 2025 college football season against Mississippi last week, Arch Manning was escorted off the field towards the end of the game due to a play that saw his head hit the ground.
Manning didn’t return to the game and was put on a concussion protocol later on, missing practice on Monday and Tuesday. He practiced on Wednesday and Thursday and was announced on the “questionable” list for the upcoming Vanderbilt showdown. According to a report from On3’s Pete Nakos on Friday, Manning has been declared a “game time” decision for the Week 10 matchup.
Reacting to the possibility of Manning not being on the field against Diego Pavia, fans online shared their thoughts.
“For him and for my friends and the good people who are Longhorns, I hope he doesn’t play if there is *any* lingering effects from the concussion, etc. Sadly, pretty sure he will go all Jihn Mateer, and it will probably end the same way,” one fan commented.
“They’re not even officially eliminated from the Playoff. This is such a situation with player safety and competing to stay in the field,” another fan added.
“Rushing him back from a concussion is insane early onset CTE, here he comes!” another fan took a shot at Sarkisian and team.
“He’s playin, and they will lose and come up with some bs excuse as to why they lost and how it was the refs fault,” another fan predicted.
“Premade excuse for the loss to Vandy. No doubt,” another fan commented.
“If the other guy is better, Arch hits the portal,” another fan predicted.

What Did Steve Sarkisian Say About Texas’ Backup QB Matthew Caldwell
As the Longhorns gear up to take on the Commodores at home, there’s a possibility that backup QB Matthew Caldwell will get the spotlight for the Week 10 game. Caldwell has had a limited time on the field this season, in which he went 8 for 11 with one TD and zero interceptions.
Talking about his confidence in the ex-USC QB, Sarkisian told the press that he is a very “even keel guy,” and has had a good time at the Texas practice sessions this week.
“He’s always picking guys up. Offense, defense, special teams. So, he’s got a really good relationship with the guys. I don’t think it’s like ‘Who’s this guy?’ He’s in a lot of faces a lot of the time. So, felt very comfortable, felt normal today,” Sarkisian said.
