Arch Manning carries one of the most famous names in football. Born into the legendary Manning family, his lineage alone has drawn national attention since his high school days. With Peyton and Eli Manning as uncles and his grandfather, Archie, a revered figure in football history, expectations have always been immense.
Today, that legacy once again hangs over him as Texas battles Oklahoma in the Red River Rivalry. The game has been tight and tense, with both defenses setting the tone early. Manning has kept his composure, completing passes efficiently and leading a disciplined offense that clawed back from an early deficit.
Despite Texas’ fightback, fans online have turned their frustration toward Manning. They question whether he can live up to the weight of his surname and criticize every incomplete pass or conservative throw.
“Arch Manning just isn’t it…you cannot be great just by living off ya family’s name,” a fan wrote.

“Arch Manning if his last name was Johnson,” a fan posted with a clip of a person selling popcorn.
“John Mateer & Arch Manning today,” a fan posted with a GIF of two clowns fighting.
“Our defense gonna be wasted because Arch Manning is dogsh*t,’ a fan wrote.
But there wasn’t only negativity toward Manning, as some fans acknowledged when he turned the game around.
“Arch Manning is trying to shut the doubters up this game. Hell of a throw!” a fan wrote.
“Arch Manning in The Clutch!” a fan wrote.

The pressure surrounding Arch Manning goes far beyond the field. He is not just another college quarterback, he represents a dynasty and is expected to live up to the standard set by his last name.
That spotlight can be relentless, and for a young quarterback still finding his rhythm, it can feel heavier than any blitzing defender.

Steve Sarkisian Defended Arch Manning
In Week 3, the Longhorns registered a 27-10 win against UTEP. It was their second consecutive win and an overall dominant performance. However, Manning was ridiculed for his performance as he finished the game with only 11 completions on 25 attempts for 114 yards.
Shockingly, Manning was booed by the fans during game and those on internet demanded him to be benched. Despite the uproar, Steve Sarkisian stood by his quarterback and defended his decision of keeping Manning after the game.
“If Arch was having a bunch of mental errors and not operating the offense well, that maybe would have required to take him out,” Sarkisian said. “I didn’t think that was the case. Different things require different things to get your point across. We handled it accordingly.”

Backing Manning turned out to be a great decision the following week against Houston as he went 18 for 21 for 309 yards and had three touchdowns.
