Arch Manning Faces Enormous Pressure as Analyst Calls Out Texas’ Offensive Line and QB Play

After all the hype, Texas quarterback Arch Manning has had a lot of disappointing outings, especially with those losses against Ohio State and Florida. Now, they will be facing off against their eternal rivals, Oklahoma, and Manning will be put in even more pressure, given the historic rivalry between the Sooners and the Longhorns.

ESPN college football analyst Rece Davis, said during the ESPN “College GameDay” show, that the Sooners have a very good defensive line and that he is not sure that the Longhorns offensive line can protect their quarterback. In addition, he added that Arch Manning does have a lot of pressure coming into the rivalry game.

“Well, the Oklahoma line, defensive line, is every bit as good, probably better than Florida’s, and Florida’s line dominated. They Florida dominated on both sides of the ball. And I think that’s the big concern for Texas. Their offensive line could not protect Arch Manning, which does not excuse Arch Manning’s performance in this game,” he said. (1:11)

“The pressure on Arch Manning going into the Red River is enormous and he’s got to find himself and show something that he hasn’t seen,” he added.

The analyst noted that while Manning does have some good throws, he does hold the ball too long, leaving him open for sacks.

He also talked about all the media hype surrounding Arch Manning during the preseason, noting that everyone is blaming the media for all the Arch hype but noted that the media does not know how much the young Manning family scion would struggle during his first year as a starting quarterback for Texas.

Ahead of the new season, many were hyping Manning up as a potential Heisman Trophy winner, though after his rough start, many believe that this is not possible anymore/

Three Performances Where Arch Manning Played Badly

There were three performances that frustrated fans when it came to Arch Manning, and the first one came during that opener at Ohio State, where the Texas offense struggled, not scoring until the final minutes. Next came at Texas’ own home stadium where he was booed during the game against UTEP. He was 11-of-25 that game, with fans voicing their frustrations with the team.

Against Florida, Manning actually showed some shades of greatness, as he finished with 263 yards on 55.2% completions with two touchdowns and two interceptions. However, this was not enough to win over at The Swamp.
