The Texas Longhorns may have come into the 2025 season as the favorites to win it all, but Arch Manning and his teammates have so far sputtered after their Week 1 loss to Ohio State.
During their Week 2 game against San Jose State, their home opener, the Longhorns have been given even more bad news after wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. was helped to the locker room and exited the game.

The injury was undisclosed, but Moore was seen being helped by a teammate, running back CJ Baxter, get to the medical tent before he was sent off to the locker room. He was not limping, suggesting that he had suffered an upper body injury against San Jose State, though no official word has been released so far.
Before exiting, DeAndre Moore Jr. had four receptions for 30 yards as the Texas Longhorns have so far been dominating their opponents. He was seen to have a breakout season as a junior, but this undisclosed injury may be putting that into question.
No video of the play or the incident where Moore got injured has been released so far, and this has been a big blow for Texas, which already lost Stanford transferee Emmett Mosley to injury, with him being expected to miss the first two games of non-conference play.
Moore was a well-respected locker room leader, with head coach Steve Sarkisian being all praises for him ahead of the season:
“There’s no question. I would say he’s the leader of the receiver room,” he said. “As Coach [Chris] Jackson calls him, the captain of the receiver room. And every room’s got that guy. But again, DeAndre, to his credit, all he did was try to emulate Jordan Whittington, and literally was in that guy’s back pocket everywhere he went.”

Ryan Wingo and Parker Livingstone Expected to Step Up More After DeAndre Moore Jr.’s Exit
Losing another wide receiver in DeAndre Moore Jr. is a big blow to Texas, though the Longhorns still has many players who could step up for the role. These include Ryan Wingo and Parker Livingstone.
It was Livingstone who scored the first three touchdowns of the season for Texas, and his workload may increase without Moore and Mosley. However, this situation may be a boon to the freshman receivers like Daylan McCutcheon, Michael Terry III, Kaliq Lockett and Jaime French, who may be seeing more playing time.
