A strong assertion made by Paul Finebaum recently made rounds on social media, saying that Arch Manning is the most dynamic quarterback that people have ever seen, maybe in a generation.
Finebaum’s quote on the Instagram account of the Texas football team received mixed responses. Among the responses was a three‑word reply from Arch’s father.
Cooper Manning weighed in by saying:
“Slow your roll!!”

In his limited playing time in 2024, Arch Manning threw for 939 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also ran for 108 yards and four touchdowns on 25 carries for the Longhorns.
Manning only had two starts in the last season, and both were due to starter Quinn Ewers being hampered by an ankle injury.

Arch Manning Begins 2025 as Texas’ Designated Starter Amid Sky-High Stakes
In 2025, Arch Manning finally takes the mantle of superstar, becoming the starting quarterback at Texas after a career full of limited action (only two career starts and about 260 total snaps). Despite that game volume, he is already an early favorite to win the Heisman Trophy, with FanDuel giving him odds of +750 according to the Austin American Statesman. This puts him ahead of Garrett Nussmeier (LSU) and Cade Klubnik (Clemson).
The Longhorns start the year as the AP preseason No. 1, the first time in program history. They beat Penn State by five points in the first AP poll of the season, and it was one of the closest polls since 1998.
Texas is a 2.5-point underdog at No. 3 Ohio State in Week 1, a rematch of a 2024 College Football Playoff game. The first real test of Arch under center will likely be in a hostile, high-stakes environment.
The Longhorns have one of the most difficult schedules it has ever had, taking on experienced SEC teams, rival games, as well as a non-conference game against the number three team in the nation. Their opening weekend could very well become the referential point of their path in the new 12-team playoff era.
