Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning may have suffered a significant injury that could sideline him for a few weeks in the 2025 college football season. On Saturday, Oct. 25, Manning and the rest of coach Steve Sarkisian’s Longhorns faced coach Jeff Lebby’s Mississippi State Bulldogs for their Week 8 matchup in away territory, the Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi.
As reported by @ConnieScouts on X/Twitter, Manning went down and left the game after he was tackled by Mississippi State safety Isaac Smith and was hit in the head by Bulldogs defensive lineman Kedrick Bingley-Jones as he was going for another touchdown. A known doctor, @DrJesseMorse, offered his take on Manning’s potential injury, as he reposted the development.

I’ll provide more context when we have it, but the most likely diagnosis is a concussion. https://t.co/iaAFxMJZQS

Whether Manning suffered a concussion is anyone’s guess. The sophomore is undergoing further evaluation to determine what his injury could be, the extent of it, and if he will miss game time. Nevertheless, Manning left a huge impact on the matchup before going down, leading his team with 346 yards and three touchdowns.
The Longhorns pulled off a nail-biting overtime victory against the Bulldogs by a mere seven points, 45-38, to improve on their current overall record, which now stands at 6-2 (3-1 SEC). Texas will now turn its attention towards Week 9 of the 2025 campaign, where it will face the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday, Nov. 1, at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas.

Steve Sarkisian Is Unsure Of Arch Manning’s Injury, Praises His Effort In Week 8
Texas coach Steve Sarkisian was not able to provide an update on Arch Manning’s status during the post-game press conference after their win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs, but did say he was proud of Manning’s effort in Week 8. Sarkisian acknowledged Manning’s growth and development as a standout, especially with him elevating his game in big matchups such as against the Bulldogs.
“ Yeah, you know, I thought Arch battled his tail off, you know? Again, I wish we played a little better around him at times, you know, wish we blocked a little better and maybe caught a couple of more balls. But man, he’s a warrior, you know, and he battles, he competes, he takes hits, he gets back up. He stands in the midst of fire and continues to throw. And, um, I think he grew up a lot tonight. I will say that,” Sarkisian said.
