New details have emerged about a frightening episode involving Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid at the team’s practice facility in 2024.
According to The Kansas City Star report, on May 4, 2024, a bullet pierced through a window of Reid’s office at the Chiefs’ training complex. The round reportedly lodged in a wall just 15 feet from his desk, near his private bathroom. Fortunately, Reid, a three-time Super Bowl champion, was not injured, and no other staff members inside the building were harmed.
The Kansas City Police Department confirmed the investigation remains open.
“Because the building was occupied at the time of the bullet coming through the window,” a spokesman told the outlet, adding, “the case is being investigated as an aggravated assault.”

Authorities stressed that, at this stage, there is “no indication this was a targeted incident at any person or organization.” The reports also mentioned that two other bullets struck the facility during the same incident, raising security concerns. In response, Reid’s office has since been reinforced with bulletproof glass. Neither Reid nor the Chiefs organization has publicly addressed the matter.

Andy Reid Talks About Roster Cuts in Kansas City Chiefs Ahead of 2025 Season
Andy Reid is heading the Kansas City Chiefs for the 13th season in the NFL, with looming roster cuts as the team heads into its final preseason matchup against the Chicago Bears. With the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline set for Tuesday, Aug. 26, Reid emphasized the difficulty of trimming down a squad that has competed hard all summer.
“Not everyone can make the team,” Reid acknowledged.
Andy Reid also noted how players have pushed to make decisions tough on the coaching staff and general manager Brett Veach. He praised the effort from top to bottom, but admitted the reality of cutting nearly half the roster is always one of the hardest parts of the job.
Friday’s preseason finale will allow the players to prove themselves to be more than just a tune-up for starters. Reid explained that coaches want to take an extended look at players fighting for spots, particularly those on the roster bubble. With expanded practice squad opportunities now available, he believes these evaluations are more valuable than ever.
“It’s a chance to see their attitude, especially if they know they’re right on the border,” Reid said.
The consequence of these final auditions would help Reid in deciding who earns a permanent role, who lands on the practice squad, and whose time in Kansas City come to an end.
