Analyst Urges UNC To Make Major Bill Belichick Call as Patriots Beef Carries Potential NFL Draft Repercussions

UNC football head coach Bill Belichick’s issues with his former team, the New England Patriots, could affect the Tar Heels’ program big time. A recent report has come forward where it was stating that Belichick has issued a directive to the university not to post any content related to the Patriots.

This report meets the surface after program’s former quarterback Drake Maye led the Patriots to a primetime win against one of the best NFL teams, the Buffalo Bills. Despite that the program’s social media account didn’t post any content about their star alum until it was too late.

College football analyst Josh Pate has called out Belichick over his usage of the program to further his beef with his former NFL team, with whom he won six Super Bowls. Pate said UNC needs to make the call on whether to continue with Belichick or safeguard the interests of their program.

“North Carolina needs to decide whether they’re going to act in the best interest of their football program or Bill Belichick,” Pate wrote on X.

Earlier this college football season, it was reported that Bill Belichick had denied access to Patriots’ scouts to UNC’s training facilities. The head coach confirmed the report, saying that since he’s not allowed in Patriots facilities, he has also shut the door for the Patriots.

This is what Pate might be saying when he says to act in the best interest of the program. This is because UNC players might be void of any potential interest coming from the Patriots.

UNC went against Bill Belichick’s wishes and finally posted about Drake Maye

Despite Bill Belichick wanting no Patriots content to be published, it seems the program has double-crossed their own head coach by finally posting about Drake Maye.

The program’s official X account posted a play from last night’s game against the Bills, where Maye engaged in similar play, which he used to do when he played for UNC from 2021 to 2023.

Maye completed 22 of 30 passes for 273 yards to lead the Patriots to a 23-20 win in SNF.

Belichick signed with UNC on a five-year deal worth $50 million. However, only the first three years of the contract are guaranteed. The buyout clause of the contract states that if Belichick were to leave the program before June 1, he would owe the program $10 million.
