Bill Belichick is making headlines every week in the first year of his coaching tenure at North Carolina. Rarely, if ever, has the conversation around him been about his quality coaching, being effective, or anything positive.
Despite being one of the biggest news makers of the season, Belichick is now mostly known for his relationship with Jordon Hudson. She attends games, they share intimate moments on the sidelines, and go on small vacations together.
Recently, Blake Ruffino of The Ruffino & Joe Show blasted Belichick for turning the Tar Heels program into a circus while destroying his legacy. One of the greatest and well-respected coaches in football history being criticized for this is truly disappointing.
Ruffino referred to a post that he saw, which stated that 59 of the 112 pictures posted by Getty Images from last week’s game were of Belichick with his girlfriend.
“He’s made this an outright circus in the sense of she’s on the sidelines, giving him kisses, long-form kisses before a football game,” Ruffino said. “And it’s not like she’s standing behind a rope and he goes and greets her…It’s not that. She’s walking the sidelines.”
Ruffino believes that this is tarnishing Belichick’s glorious legacy as a football coach. He stated that he understands the attraction Belichick might have for his girlfriend, who is nearly 40 years younger than him, but he’s appointed by the Tar Heels to do his job, not create photo opportunities with his girlfriend.
Ruffino isn’t the only one who has a problem with the way Belichick is operating lately. He has been criticized for not being serious about coaching UNC, and it’s evident from their 2-3 record this season.
Jason Whitlock Went Off On Bill Belichick
Jason Whitlock is known for not mincing his words. In the case of Belichick, he has had his issues with the legendary coach’s conduct. Whitlock believes that he is too involved in his personal life with his 24-year-old girlfriend at the cost of his legacy and UNC’s season.
While he thinks Belichick is way past his prime and has nothing to offer any program, Whitlock’s biggest problem is parading his girlfriend everywhere he goes, even at places she doesn’t belong.
On an episode of Fearless, Whitlock stated that Hudson’s presence around the team facility might become a problem for Belichick.
“It’s open season on Jordon Hudson right now,” Whitlock said (8:35). “Her DMs are filled and I’m not talking about with TCU players who were cracking jokes in their locker room about Bill Belichick. I’m talking about in his own locker room. They’re in her DMs in his own locker room.”
Whitlock said that football locker rooms are “predatory” in nature. Players, within their close circle, talk about things they wouldn’t ever say in a public setting. Whitlock also stated that if he continues down this path, players will lose all respect for him as well.
