Mason Graham’s Defensive Dominance: What Analysts Say About His Potential Despite Flaws

He has become known as a great force along Michigan’s defensive line. With world-class athleticism and a powerful frame, he will give nightmares to offensive linemen, and it’s undisputed that he knows how to get to the quarterback.

Throughout his college career, he has shown a remarkable ability to fill running lanes consistently and with discipline in run defense. His performances in crunch games establish him firmly as one of the premier defensive tackles in college football today.

However, despite all these things that show Graham’s strength, analysts have mentioned many areas that Graham should improve to optimize his potential at the next level. One of those areas includes inconsistency in pad level.

At times, Graham’s height and the way he carries himself off the line can leave him vulnerable to offensive linemen who can get under his pads and control the battle at the line of scrimmage. Being very high in his stance cuts out leverage and compromises his ability to shed blockers.

Analysts also pointed out Graham’s lack of specialization in pass rush technique. Though Graham pushes the crowd pretty well, he tends to use the same moves in rushing. According to analysts, Graham must think outside the box and add to his artillery of pass-rushing tactics to thrive at the next level.

He will need to develop a more varied range of hand techniques and pass-rush moves for consistent pressure on professional-level quarterbacks.

Graham possesses some elite skills that transfer well to being one of the top defensive tackle prospects in college football.

However, he must polish up certain parts of his game. But with the hard work and the natural talent that he possesses, there is little doubt Graham would be able to overcome this and become an all-star at that next level.

For now, he remains under the eyes of the NFL scouts, who will soon examine his potential to make adjustments in order to reach greatness.
