Analyst Lets Loose On “Snake In The Grass” Lane Kiffin For Leaving Ole Miss Stranded In College Football Playoff

Lane Kiffin’s departure from Ole Miss to LSU has arguably been the talking point of the season. After taking Ole Miss into the playoffs with an impressive 11-1 record this season, Kiffin called it quits on the Rebels, replacing Brian Kelly at Louisiana.

A lot of fans and analysts alike, but naturally, aren’t happy with Kiffin’s decision to switch bases when the Oxford-based side is a national championship contender.

Sharing the same sentiment, Analyst Doug Franz on News 12’s show, whilst discussing Lane Kiffin’s departure, went on a long rant essentially calling the former Ole Miss head coach “a snake in the grass,” referencing Kiffin’s abrupt move to Louisiana.

Franz on the show began saying how the Lane Kiffin coaching situation is an absolute joke and asked all the potential recruits’ parents to think twice before sending their children to LSU.

He further compared Kiffin to a snake in the grass, saying the parents of the recruits should not be surprised if Kiffin flakes out on their children, stating he’s only in it for himself.

“Once you see a snake in the grass, why in the world would you send your son to get bitten by it?”, Franz stated on X (0:12).

“Do not lie to yourself and act like in any way he’s there for your son to be able to better themselves, because he’s in it completely for one reason, himself”, he further elaboarted (0:16).

Doug, further in his segment, was baffled how someone like Kiffin can leave a national championship contender to leave Ole Miss and walk out on his kids.

He also called out the former Ole Miss head coach for his PR on him staying in Oxford and how much he loves his family, stating Kiffin is not a good person.

Lane Kiffin’s announcement as LSU’s head coach came after the Ole Miss Egg Bowl victory over Mississippi State, as he inked a massive seven-year, $91 million contract at LSU.

Lane Kiffin’s Farewell Post Reveals Desire To Lead Rebels Through Playoffs

Despite analysts thrashing Kiffin for walking out on Ole Miss amidst their playoff leg of the 2025 CFB season, Kiffin, in his farewell post, expressed how he wanted to coach the Rebels even post-season, but his demands were eventually negated by Ole Miss’ Athletic Director Keith Carter.

Ole Miss, meanwhile, took no time in announcing Kiffin’s replacement, promoting their defensive coordinator Pete Golding to be the program’s 40th head coach.

The Rebels are now slated to face 11th seed Tulane in their playoff fixture at the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on 20th December.
