As college football programs gear up for the 2025 season, Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt has compiled his list of the top 10 quarterbacks to watch, and Carson Beck, who transferred to Miami from Georgia, has taken a dramatic fall on that list.
In a recent episode of “The Joel Klatt Show,” the analyst explains why the new ‘Canes QB fell in his rankings.

Carson Beck Falls On Joel Klatt’s 2025 QB List As Injury Concerns, Off-Field Issues Cloud His Outlook
In a recent episode of “The Joel Klatt Show,” analyst Joel Klatt explained that while former Gerogia QB Carson Beck showed signs of greatness as a Bulldog, he might see a drop-off in performance with Miami.
“At No. 10 was the guy that I had at the top of the list last year. This year at 10 – Carson Beck,” Klatt began. “Carson Beck comes in, transferring to Miami. He’s my No. 10 quarterback going into next season. I’ll be real honest. I felt like this was giving him the benefit of the doubt.”
He continued, “One, he turned the ball over too much last year. Yes, Georgia struggled with drops on the outside. They had more drops than anybody amongst their wide receivers, more than anybody in the country. That was clearly a problem.”
“But he did turn the football over too much. You just can’t do that and expect your team to perform at their highest ability. So, that’s the on the field stuff with Carson Beck.”
Beck’s 2024 season, which saw him suffer a UCL injury in December before the Bulldogs’ College Football Playoff run, wasn’t as striking as the previous season. He threw for 3,485 passing yards with a 64.7% completion rate and 29 touchdowns, but his turnovers rose to 15 on the season.
In 2023, Beck threw for 3,941 yards with fewer turnovers at eight and had 28 touchdowns overall.

Klatt touched on the injury and also noted that he hasn’t had time to work with receivers in spring games for the Hurricanes. He also alluded to Beck facing issues off-field due to his reported $4.3 million NIL deal with Miami and a stormy breakup with ex-girlfriend and Hurricanes basketball player Hanna Cavinder.
“I do think that he’s a really good player. That’s why I had him number one last year and, even with some of those things that give me pause going into this season, he’s still going to be on my list, except this time he’s at number ten,” Klatt said. “Disappointing year, injury. I think he can bounce back.”
