In a recent discussion with ESPN Cleveland, one of the well-known football analysts, Tony Grossi, expressed his dismay by saying that he doesn’t think that 2024 was the season of Shedeur Sanders.
Furthermore, he added, calling him “legendary” is not something he resonates with, and he would rather opt for Jaxson Dart than Sanders.
Moreover, another analyst’s opinion seems to raise a similar opinion to that of Grossi, who clearly stated that the hype around Sanders is just because of his popularity in the game and not for his skills.
Sanders had a good season, passing for over 4,000 yards and 37 touchdowns. Still, some argue that this number itself doesn’t give the title of being legendary.

Analyst Rejects Browns’ Praise of Shedeur Sanders’ Final College Season As “Legendary”
Grossi didn’t follow the Browns’ speech, calling out that Shedeur Sanders had a “legendary” final-season game at Colorado.
I genuinely mean no disrespect by this, but “legendary” to describe a player who wasn’t a first team all American nor a Heisman finalist is a joke

In the recently shared post on X by @FBallAnalysisYT, it was clearly said that the title “legendary” for Sanders is a bit too much because he wasn’t a Heisman finalist or a first-team All-American.
“No disrespect, but calling Shedeur’s season legendary is a joke. Cam Newton and Joe Burrow had legendary seasons. Shedeur did not,” the post said.

Lastly, Sanders was drafted in the fifth round by the Browns in the 2025 NFL Draft, and his pick and the comment over Sanders being legendary, started this whole debate about how good his college career in football actually was; between analysts and fans.
