As Lane Kiffin’s head coaching saga becomes more and more confusing every day, with Ole Miss’ playoff chances in danger if he leaves and LSU’s alleged $98 million offer, many analysts are criticizing him for being selfish in the process.
While some believe it’s okay for him to explore his options, others believe he has been keeping the Rebels on their toes for too long at this point.
Kiffin has a unique reputation in the college football world for his infamous Tennessee exit and also his alleged firing by Nick Saban’s Alabama.
Analyst Mark Nagi recently opened up about how no fans can trust Kiffin because of his track record in the past:
“As much as the image rehab has been great for Lane, he’s still the same guy that I don’t know how any fan base can truly trust. Nick Saban, who took a real chance to let him back and helped kind of rebuild his career; Saban was so sick of him that he told him to go to Florida Atlantic between the national semifinal and the national championship game.”
“That probably cost Alabama a national championship. Nick Saban, who cares about winning over everything else in the world, could not stand Lane Kiffin that much, that he basically gave up a chance to really win a national championship. This does not surprise me in the least, the way that he’s kind of playing Ole Miss and Florida and LSU against each other.”
Nagi further said that he believes Kiffin would stay at Ole Miss, and this whole fiasco is just a way of getting his name out there and maybe even getting more money from his current program.

Nick Saban Highlights Flaw in CFB System Amid Lane Kiffin’s Coaching Scenario
As Lane Kiffin’s potential exit casts a shadow over Ole Miss’ playoff chances as many analysts believe the committee might look at the team differently if they don’t have their head coach going into the playoffs.
During Saturday’s appearance on the College Game Day, Saban said that he believes everybody should be thinking about the players, as the players should be able to play for their head coach for the whole season.
He also said that the team should not be penalized if their coach decides to leave.
“We should match the academic calendar with the football calendar,” said Saban, who thinks that aligning key dates would help stem the tide of coaches leaving during seasons.
“This is not a Lane Kiffin conundrum,” he concluded. “This is a college football conundrum, and we need some leadership to step up and change the rules.” Saban said.
Kiffin and Ole Miss are set to announce news on their future after the Egg Bowl showdown on November 28th.
