“He’s Played Two Sisters of the Poor”: CFB Analyst Predicts Disappointing Record for Arch Manning As Texas’ QB1 in 2025

Arch Manning’s hype ahead of the 2025 college football season knows no bounds. The Texas QB1 is expected to win the Heisman Trophy, take the Longhorns to a national championship game, be the No. 1 draft pick, and do a lot more during his first year as the starter.

Analysts like Paul Finebaum compare the Manning prodigy to Florida Gators legend Tim Tebow, who is considered one of the greatest college football players ever, and bet that the Texas star will be am among the best quarterbacks in the 2025 college football season.

However, there are analysts like Trey Wallace who believes Texas will end the upcoming season with an overall record of 9-3. He further explained that he’s not saying Manning won’t be the guy but that he hasn’t played enough teams to be declared as great as he is hyped up to be.

When asked about his hottest take of the year Wallace said (14:10): “Texas goes nine and three this year. Texas goes nine and three this year. I enjoy the arch Manning hype, but I look forward to Columbus, Ohio to see what it’s really like for him to be thrown into the wolves. I’m not saying he’s not going to be the guy and going to be the player, but damn dude, he played against two sisters of the poor, and now all of a sudden, you know he’s going to be QB one to the first round pick next year, like, let’s go see you play some defenses, first, and then we’ll figure it out so I think I think Texas nine and three I think this year.”

Steve Sarkisian Heaps Praise on Arch Manning

Arch Manning has been waiting for his turn to be Texas’ starting quarterback for two years now. While many would’ve jumped to the transfer portal after Quinn Ewers decided to come back for the 2023 college football season, Manning stuck to the process at Texas and waited for his opportunity.

Talking about Manning’s preparedness and the plan for the matchup against Ohio state, Steve Sarkisian told Colin Cowherd:

“Putting a plan together that we feel good about also gives Arch a little bit of freedom to get us in and out of some things that as looks present themselves in the game, because there’s so many unknowns, I think is going to be critical. And he’s more than capable of doing that. You know, the guy’s been raised watching tape of Eli, Peyton, his dad and his grandpa. We’re going to feel good about that. And he’s got great composure and he’s been in some fires with us already. So we’ll feel good about it.

“We’re going against a really good defensive coordinator in Matt Patricia, which I don’t think people are talking a whole lot about.”

Texas will kick off the 2025 college football season against Ohio State on August 30.
