ESPN Analyst Delivers Strong Take on Deion Sanders’ Colorado After Losing Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter to the NFL

Deion Sanders, as a college football coach, might not have a plethora of accomplishments, but he is still mentioned among the best coaches. His stint with Colorado, which started in 2023, has been nothing short of legendary.

The Colorado Buffaloes are coming off a nine-win season in 2024. Things were different back then, as he had star players like Travis Hunter and his son, Shedeur Sanders. Now, Coach Prime is with a relatively new team, and the expectations are still sky high.

In a recent episode of ESPN’s Get Up, analyst Greg McElroy was asked what Sanders has to prove this year as a coach. McElroy delivered a strong opinion on it, claiming that Coach Prime has nothing to prove to anyone after everything he has done with Colorado.

“He has to prove nothing,” McElroy said. “He’s done an amazing job taking Colorado from the cellar of college football to one of the most watched and exciting programs in the sport year-over-year. He’s already established himself as a top-level coach.” (0:35)

The Buffaloes could see a potential decline in their overall performance this year because of the two players who joined the NFL. As per McElroy, even if it happens, it wouldn’t be a loss because any program would suffer in the absence of two great players.

“I wouldn’t take it too personal if that goes down,” McElroy said. “What I’m curious about, though, is if he overextends, he goes from not just one of the most exciting coaches, but one of the most respected coaches in college football based on his acumen.”

McElroy believes that Coach Prime can still achieve a lot with his current roster. And that will earn him the respect on top of him already being the most popular coach.

Deion Sanders has issued strict classroom dress code for his students

It’s no secret that Coach Prime runs a tight ship. His success as an NFL and MLB athlete, and a coach is a result of his dedication and discipline. In order to produce more great athletes like himself, Deion Sanders has a vision for all his students.

In a video posted by his son, Deion Sanders Jr., Coach Prime can be seen issuing a new set of rules for his students.

“No slides,” Deion Sanders said. “I’m gonna send people to campus tomorrow. If I see you in slides on campus, it’s gonna be a problem. If I see you with a hoodie on in class with some headphones on in class, it’s gonna be a problem.”

Deion Sanders stated that he doesn’t want to see his students in the back of the classroom. As for the online classes, he stated that students are not to be seen without a shirt or simply wearing a tank top. His students aren’t allowed to walk away or do other things during an online session as well.

Some might find these rules excessive or unnecessary, but these things help build a strong foundation. What Coach Prime is trying to do will make his students more than just great athletes.
