All-Conference DT Thomas Jolly Drawing FBS Interest, Reigning FCS Champ NDSU Also in Mix

After a strong season that resulted in all-conference recognition, Grand Valley State defensive tackle Thomas Jolly is gaining the attention of many FBS schools.

The only question is, where will he end up if he decides to transfer?

Thomas Jolly Drawing FBS Attention After All-Conference Season, NDSU in the Hunt

According to insider Michael Salvo, 10 FBS schools have shown interest in Jolly’s skillset.

Those teams are Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Ball State, North Dakota State, UTEP, San Jose State, Georgia Southern, South Alabama, Kent State, and Kennesaw State.

If Jolly is looking to take the next step up and challenge himself at the next level, this might be his opportunity to do just that. That could eventually lead to him playing the kind of football that NFL scouts may witness.

To do that, he may want to join the MAC, which means he could end up picking between Central Michigan, Kent State, Bowling Green, and Ball State.

Thomas Jolly’s Numbers at Grand Valley State

Jolly put up very strong numbers last season, which is why he has gotten a lot of heat from the transfer portal. In 12 games played, he recorded 36 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks, three quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and one interception.

Those are quality numbers, and they would likely translate well to an FBS school such as Central Michigan or even Kent State.

Jolly will be a senior next year, so his opportunities to catch the eyes of NFL scouts are starting to dwindle. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 270 pounds, Jolly is a little undersized for a defensive lineman, but that just makes his numbers more impressive. Coaches are seeing that from other schools, which is why he has so much interest.

It will now be interesting to see if he can gain any interest from teams in the Power Five. The transfer portal is filled with defensive linemen looking to leave their school, and that only means that there are even more opportunities out there.

Time will tell if Jolly can get any heat from teams from major conferences that are in need of help in the interior of the defensive line.
