Alex Golesh is entering his second season as head coach of the University of South Florida, leading the Bulls to a 7-6 finish and a bowl victory in his first year in charge.
The 45-0 win over the Syracuse Orange in the Boca Raton Bowl wrapped up a successful start to Golesh’s tenure in Tampa, but what is his salary, contract, and net worth as USF head coach?
Alex Golesh’s Salary and Contract in 2024
Golesh signed a six-year contract in December 2022 worth over $15.3 million that will see him paid $2.5 million in 2024. The annual salary comprises a $500,000 base salary and $2 million supplemental pay.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that Golesh will earn $2.5 million in the first three years of his deal, then from the 2026 season, the figure will move to $2.6 million with $200,000 in base salary and $2.1 million in supplemental pay.
The supplemental pay is made up of several obligations, including “media appearances and fundraising events.”
The salary makes Golesh one of the highest-paid head coaches in the Group of Five and includes several performance-based bonuses.
The potential bonuses included in Golesh’s contract are:
- $10,000 for winning eight regular season games.
- $25,000 for a conference championship appearance.
- $50,000 for winning a conference championship.
- $50,000 for finishing in the top 10 of the CFP rankings.
- $30,000 for finishing ranked between 11 and 15 in the CFP rankings.
- $20,000 for finishing ranked between 16 and 25 in the CFP rankings.
- $10,000 for a victory over a top-10-ranked team.
- $25,000 for a bowl game appearance.
- $50,000 for a bowl game win.
- $200,000 for making the College Football Playoff.
Furthermore, Golesh was given $35,000 when signing his contract for moving expenses and receives a monthly supplement of $800 towards vehicle finances.
With conference realignment being so prominent in today’s college football, USF is also obligated to renegotiate Golesh’s contract if the Bulls join a Power Five conference, and the additional raise “will be at least $1 million annually.”
Golesh’s Net Worth
Golesh’s net worth is not reported. However, calculating current, future, and past contracts, the Bulls’ HC is worth over $19.3 million.
The USA Today Salary Tracker shares that between 2009 and 2023, Golesh earned $6.5 million in annual salaries, and he is due to earn $12.8 million at USF between 2024 and 2028.
