“Who Cares What A Washed Up QB Has To Say”: Fans Fire Back As Former Alabama Standout Blasts “Stupid” Thomas Castellanos Despite Stellar Performance

Alabama got run over by Florida State in their season opener over the weekend. The Seminoles never let go of their lead and finished the game with a commanding 31-17 record. Florida State’s quarterback Thomas Castellanos had a great debut with his new team, leading them with 152 passing yards and a completion percentage of 64.2%. More importantly, he had 78 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

This was good news for the signal-caller, as before the game, he launched a challenge to the Alabama Crimson Tide and expressed that he didn’t feel intimidated by the famous program.

Regardless of how things went, former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron still feels that Castellanos’s pre-game attitude was out of place.

“I don’t take anything back, still think his comments are stupid, from a sense of it’s just not something you do as a quarterback.” McCarron said this week

Fans, in turn, seem to think that the word of a retired quarterback who failed to make it in the NFL is basically worthless.

“Who cares what a washed up qb has to say.” Wrote one person

“Sounds like something a salty b*tch would say” Complained another person

“He’s not good at his job but entitled to an opinion I suppose. Move on AJ, they lost.” Said one person

“McCarron is your typical Bama resident past player that had his 15 minutes and now has nothing else but memories to talk about. It’s best to just ignore him.” Explained a neutral fan

A Florida State fan took it to the next level, declaring Castellanos a Heisman favorite.

“lol this tweet will age great once Tommy is in New York winning the heisman..” Claimed one fan

Others reminded people of McCarron’s shortcomings as a player, but admitted that these didn’t disqualify his comments.

“AJ was a marginal QB who played in a system that fit what his abilities were. He was never an outstanding qb but that doesn’t make him a bad person.” Explained one fan

What did Thomas Castellanos say ahead of the game?

Thomas Castellanos came into Florida State after transferring from Boston College in late 2024. Castellanos made the news in June of this year when, speaking about the upcoming game against Alabama, he said he wasn’t as intimidated because Nick Saban was no longer in Tuscaloosa to save the Crimson Tide.

At the time, the comments seemed out of place, but he backed them up with action last weekend. Florida State entered the game as a two-touchdown underdog and an unranked opponent. They’re now the No. 14 team in the nation.
