Alabama’s offensive coordinator, Ryan Grubb, personally recruits five-star running back Ezavier “EJ” Crowell with a powerful video message.

Alabama OC Ryan Grubb Wants Crowell Badly
Crowell, a star player from high school coming back from Alabama, is one of the outstanding players in the 2026 class.
Alabama’s offensive coordinator Grubb is personally eyeing all the work needed for smooth recruitment for him and even sent him a specially customized video message to motivate him. The video message was first shared on X by Justin Smith of Touchdown Alabama on Wednesday, showing Grubb conversing directly with Crowell.
He said, “We got some good runs in today. I would love to see you run the ball out down here in Alabama, buddy.”

Crowell played for Jackson High School and is a high-priority prospect for the Alabama Crimson Tide. The team’s coaches, including head coach Kalen DeBoer, are working hard to ensure that he doesn’t opt for or consider playing for another school.
Furthermore, so far, Alabama hasn’t got a player who has a running back obligation for 2026, making Crowell an even more vital player for the match.
Crowell Visits Alabama, Other Top Schools
Crowell had recently visited Tuscaloosa too many times. He also attended Alabama’s successful win, 63-0, against Western Kentucky, held on August 31, and returned for their Iron Bowl win, 28-14, in a rivalry with Auburn on November 30.
“Their messages will always be the standard and come to be a legend at Bama,” Crowell told Touchdown Alabama about the Crimson Tide’s appeal.
Crowell was, from the outset, a major part of the 2027 class, but later on, he jumped ahead to the 2026 class earlier this year.
He had also opted for six schools, as his preferred choices are Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, Ohio State, Auburn, and Texas.

Below is the list of his upcoming visits:
Georgia on May 30
Texas on June 6
Auburn on June 13
Florida State on June 15
Alabama on June 20
Lastly, Crowell’s resolution will ultimately be crucial for Alabama’s head coach, DeBoer, who has been condemned for not signing or convincing enough in-state players to join their team.
Up till now, Alabama’s 2026 class only had one in-state recruit, and that is four-star cornerback Zyan Gibson.
