Alabama Fans Allegedly Prank Call Texas WR Isaiah Bond During NFL Draft

In a shocking twist to the NFL Draft weekend drama, former Alabama wide receiver Isaiah Bond became the victim of a cruel prank call from Crimson Tide fans. The incident, captured on video, shows Bond excitedly believing he was speaking with Atlanta Falcons GM Terry Fontenot about being drafted, only to hear “Roll Tide” before the caller hung up.

Isaiah Bond Reportedly Targeted by Alabama Fans in NFL Draft Prank Call

The prank adds another layer of disappointment to Bond’s draft experience as the Texas transfer went undrafted amid legal troubles and performance concerns.

The deceptive call lasting approximately 30 seconds has sparked outrage across social media platforms, with many condemning the act as emotionally damaging to a young athlete during one of the most stressful moments of his career.

The prank caller skillfully impersonated Falcons GM Terry Fontenot, claiming they would “put the pick in” and even mentioned transferring Bond to team owner Arthur Blank to enhance credibility. Bond, believing the opportunity legitimate, responded enthusiastically, “You’re gettin’ a baller… I’m coming to work.”

When the call concluded with the prankster shouting “Roll Tide” Bond initially laughed and reciprocated the greeting, acknowledging his two seasons stint at Alabama before transferring to Texas. The former Crimson Tide player appeared to take the prank in stride despite its timing during the emotionally charged draft weekend.

Bond’s draft stock had already suffered setbacks before the prank call incident. In April 2025, he surrendered to Frisco police following a sexual assault warrant and was released on $25,000 bond. Bond later filed a defamation lawsuit against his accuser maintaining the encounter was consensual.

On the field, Bond’s 2024 season at Texas yielded modest production with 34 receptions, 540 yards and 5 touchdowns, ranking third on the team. This followed his more productive 2023 campaign at Alabama where he amassed 668 yards before deciding to transfer to the Longhorns program.

NFL analyst Dov Kleiman condemned the pranks on social media, stating athletes “shouldn’t have to go through this” during the draft process. Fans echoed similar sentiments with some demanding legal consequences and questioning how pranksters obtained Bond’s private phone number.

Bond wasn’t the only draft prospect targeted by such deception. Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders received a similar prank call from Jax Ulbrich, son of Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, who impersonated Saints GM Mickey Loomis. Sanders was picked by Browns in the fifth round.

Additionally, Penn State tight end Tyler Warren reportedly fell victim to the same group of pranksters, prompting an official NFL investigation into the incidents. The league has not yet announced any specific actions regarding Bond’s situation as investigations continue.

As of April 28, 2025, Bond remains an undrafted free agent with rookie minicamps approaching.
