Reports from On3 indicate growing dissatisfaction among Alabama boosters with the program’s performance under Kalen DeBoer.
The reports come days after Alabama lost its Week 1 game against Florida State 31-17, dropping from No. 8 in the preseason AP Poll to No. 21 going into Week 2.

An anonymous booster told On3:
“We’re spoiled, always have been. But when we put a team out there that looks uninspired like we have far too many times these past two years and lose to teams that we’re clearly more talented than, that’s when it becomes a problem … and not just a bunch of spoiled fans griping.”
According to the report, the donor in question is one of the most important at the school, with his portrait hanging in the Donor Hall of Recognition at Bryant-Denny Stadium. His comments seem to echo what’s currently being discussed in the media.
The main problem is not the defeat in itself, but the fact that Alabama seemed to give up with plenty of game still yet to be played. Something unheard of during Nick Saban’s tenure.

Kalen DeBoer Asks for More Time and Expresses Faith in His Team
Kalen DeBoer spoke to the press this Wednesday during his weekly SEC teleconference. It seemed like the coach decided to use the opportunity to reassure fans and school authorities, asking for more time and reaffirming his faith in the current Alabama team:
“My message is that our team is, I think we got a really good football team,” DeBoer said. “I think we got a good football team that can do some big things still this year. We gotta prove it. We gotta go do it. To this point, it’s been me being able to focus on football, and I appreciate that.”
Alabama’s Week 2 encounter shouldn’t pose any serious problem, as they face Louisiana-Monroe. However, the games in Weeks 3 and 4 will be a better measurement of Alabama’s true potential. In Week 3, Wisconsin will travel to Tuscaloosa to face the Crimson Tide. The true test for Alabama comes in Week 4, when they travel to Athens to face No. 4 Georgia.
