The portal continues to shake things up this college football season. Teams are going from playoff contenders to rebuilding mode in just a few days. South Carolina has had plenty of exits, and the latest keeps things that way. Air Noland, the former four-star, will be hitting the portal in the latest announcement.
The young QB got basically no playing time at South Carolina and will look for another team to get his college football journey started. This is also his second transfer, as previously he played for Ohio State during their 2024 national championship run. Let’s break down 5 potential new landing spots for Walter Nolan.
1. Nebraska
The Huskers should be in the market for a new QB. Dylan Raiola decided to leave the team following the 2024 campaign. Now, it could be an interesting move to go back to the Big 10, but this could easily be a starting role for Noland. In high school, Noland was able to move the ball around with ease. His accurate passing is what made him one of the top players in his class. Raiola was easily something similar at Nebraska. Roland could easily step in where Raiola left off.
2. Florida
Same situation in Florida. The Gators lost DJ Lagway to the portal and will look to turn around quickly. Noland also would have some experience scouting SEC teams. The Gators are in a bit of a rush to regain some sort of relevance. It would be surprising to see them not pull in someone with veteran experience. While Noland hasn’t seen the field much, he has observed numerous teams play and can adapt to systems quickly. Noland could be a strong match in Gainesville.
3. Miami
The Hurricanes are still in the middle of the playoffs, so it’s hard to judge how the offseason is going to go. But one thing is pretty clear: Carson Beck will be out of there after this year. With their success this year bringing in a transfer, it would be surprising if they didn’t try to do it again. Noland fits more of who Beck is at Miami while also bringing more mobility with it. One thing Miami should like over Beck is that Noland has been way more accurate with the football.
4. LSU
No one knows. Lane Kiffin could do pretty much anything to get LSU moving in the right direction. While there are rumors that Trinidad Chambliss could follow his coach to Baton Rouge, a deep playoff run could certainly change that. Noland could easily be developed to be one of the best under Lane Kiffin. If Kiffin can’t get his former guy from Ole Miss, he could be looking at Noland as a potential option.
5. Florida State
The Seminoles are going to need somebody. Tommy Castellanos tried to get eligibility, and it seems like that just isn’t going to happen. Noland could fit well with what Florida State was doing early in the year. They definitely have the potential to get things over the hump, and a good passer could be the needed boost. Noland’s accuracy and vision also fit well with a team that is desperate to get back to playoff contention.

Bottom Line
At the end of the day, the portal stays the most unpredictable thing in college football. The playoffs are going full circle, and teams are getting dismantled in between weeks. This is only just the beginning. The portal officially opens on January 2nd. That means even more chaos for the college football world going into the offseason.
