Aidan Chiles is leaving East Lansing, according to the most recent reports. A decision to follow his coach, Jonathan Smith, from Oregon State to Michigan State didn’t pan out for the best for the signal-caller, and he now leaves as the coach was recently dismissed.
Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles will be entering the NCAA transfer portal, he tells ESPN. Chiles is a true junior who has one year of eligibility remaining. Chiles, 20, played in 30 games over three combined seasons at Michigan State and Oregon State. pic.twitter.com/2ikpGOqmjO

Here are some places where he could end up.

Top 5 Landing Spots for Aidan Chiles
#5 USC Trojans
The Trojans are on the lookout for a new quarterback to revamp their offense. For a Long Beach Native like Chiles, a highly offensive program like the USC Trojans could be the perfect fit. It would bring him closer to home while allowing him to work under a coach like Lincoln Riley, who has developed Heisman winners like Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Caleb Williams and NFL starters like Jalen Hurts and Spencer Rattler. This could be great for the signalp-caller’s development.
#4 Indiana Hoosiers
All eyes are currently on the Indiana Hoosiers, as they finished their strongest regular season in program history, and they have their eyes set on the national championship. Nonetheless, someone in Curt Cignetti’s mind is aware that Fernando Mendoza will most likely declare for the 2026 NFL Draft. For Aidan Chiles, this would be a move upwards, joining one of the hottest, if not the hottest, programs in college football at the moment.
#3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish
While CJ Carr had plenty of eligibility left, some at South Bend certainly thought he wasn’t up to the level of what they have come to expect with Sam Hartman and Riley Leonard. Following the failure to qualify for the College Football Playoff this year, the Irish might want to look for a way to revamp their offense, especially considering they will likely lose Jeremiyah Love to the NFL. The Fighting Irish have experience in taking experienced quarterbacks and turning them into success, as they proved with Hartman and Leonard.
#2 Miami Hurricanes
The Hurricanes are in a similar conundrum to Indiana and a touch of Notre Dame’s. They are certain that Carson Beck will be leaving for the NFL in 2026, as he runs out of eligibility years, but they have also proven they know how to take a veteran quarterback struggling in other programs and revamp them. They have done so with Cam Ward and now with Carson Beck. Could they do the same with Aidan Chiles?
#1 Oregon State
Chiles left Oregon State following the dismemberment of the Pac-12, and he followed Jonathan Smith to East Lansing. Now that the Pac-12 has sort of come back to life with a big expansion package, and following an unsuccessful stint with the Spartans, could he return home? He already knows the program and might feel at ease with the Beavers.
