Abdul Carter’s Visit with Titans Raises Excitement for No. 1 Pick

According to Darren Davenport, the Titans have already met with Miami quarterback Cam Ward and are set to meet with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders on Monday.

Carter has been vocal about why he believes he should be the No. 1 pick in the draft, saying, “I feel like I’m the best player in the country and the best player should be selected No. 1,” Carter told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Carter’s tweet yesterday has many believing that he knows he will be the first overall pick.

Davenport and ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler spoke with “dozens of league personnel” at the combine, and many believe Tennessee’s main options for the No. 1 pick will be “Ward, Carter, and trading out of the top spot.”

The 21-year-old had an impressive final season with Penn State, finishing with 68 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 16 games. In 2024, Carter was recognized as the Nagurski-Woodson Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and the Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year. He was also a finalist for the Lombardi Award.

Carter is widely projected as a top-three pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Many analysts believe the Tennessee Titans could take him with the No. 1 pick. NFL.com, the Detroit Lions mock draft, and PFF’s post-Super Bowl mock draft all have the Titans selecting Carter first overall. These predictions highlight his elite pass-rushing ability and how he could strengthen Tennessee’s defense.

    Abdul Carter Injury Update

At the NFL combine, there were rumors about Carter needing foot surgery due to a stress reaction, raising questions about his draft stock. However, Carter chose not to have surgery, which was good news for the teams.

NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah discussed the situation on The Rich Eisen Show, saying, “I didn’t talk to teams that were too overly concerned there… If he goes to his Pro Day and looks good, he’s not gonna move on my list.” This decision could help Carter maintain his spot as a top-three pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
