Abdul Carter came to the New York Giants with plenty of hype, especially as he was the No. 3 overall pick in 2025. However, the rookie linebacker was in for a rude awakening as he went viral for being decleated by tight end Stone Smartt before being flattened by offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor during their preseason matchup against the New York Jets.

This brutal welcome has gotten a lot of fans talking and many were making fun of the rookie for being completely dominated by the Jets.
“He’s a little boy 😭✌🏾 he’ll never even sniff Jayden Daniel’s in his career,” one fan joked.
“Carter found out even 3rd string TE’s don’t have a soft release in the NFL,” added another fan.
“Where’s the guy who said Carter is “already a top 5 rush end” after his first preseason game.” asked one commenter.
“Bro just got absolutely destroyed by a random tight end😂i didnt see that coming,” another person replied.
“I know yall know talking about doubles😭 HE GOT SAT TF DOWN PIPE DOWN,” another person pointed out.
“This is Football, everyone is going to be hit hard sooner or later!! He’s still learning the NFL game! All the great ones have been knocked on there ass , at least once!!” one defender noted.
The New York Giants still defeated the New York Jets that game, with the final score being 31-12. However, this still ended up being a humbling experience for the linebacker, who was knocked down twice by two bench players. The Giants dominated the game with a big third quarter, with the Jets’ offense struggling to keep up with that Giants blitz.

Abdul Carter Speaks Up After Getting Humbled During Preseason Game Vs. Jets
Despite that humbling experience, Abdul Carter brushed it off during the postgame press conference, telling reporters that all that mattered was that they won the game.
“It happens, but we got the win. That’s all I’m worried about,” he said. “S*** just happens on the football field, but we got the win, so we’re good.”
This was Abdul Carter’s first game at MetLife Stadium, and he recorded a single tackle that game and was limited to just 19 snaps. He did not play a full game and noted that whenever he is out in the field, he will just do what he does best.
For now, he is turning his focus to more practice on Tuesday before their final preseason game on Thursday, which will be against the New England Patriots, where he may finally get his wish and play a full game.
