Abdul Carter, the rookie for the New York Giants, finds himself in a strange situation. While fans are eager to see him in action, the big question right now isn’t about his performance—it’s about his jersey number.
This funny situation made him joke that he might play next season without a number, just his name on the back of his jersey. Of course, that won’t really happen. Eventually, he’ll get his number for sure.

Abdul Carter’s Genius Plan Emerges After Multiple Jersey Number Rejections
After being drafted third overall by the New York Giants, Abdul Carter hoped to continue wearing the number 11 jersey—the same one he wore during his college career at Penn State.

He perceived it as a representation of his supremacy on the ball’s defensive side. But his plans hit a roadblock. The Giants had retired number 11 to honor legendary quarterback Phil Simms, making it off-limits. Simms’ family also played a role in keeping the number unavailable.
Before this, Carter had already tried to wear Lawrence Taylor’s famous number 56, but that request was denied as well. No matter which number he picked, it seemed to be either retired or rejected. When Carter asked for permission to wear 56, Taylor shut the idea down immediately.
“Get another number,” Taylor said. “I don’t care if it’s double zero, and then make it famous.”
What do you think—how should he react? Overall, it’s a strange situation. It could easily make someone angry, but in this case, it’s making people laugh. The former Penn State defensive end understands he’s in a tough spot, but instead of getting upset, he decided to laugh it off.
Taking to Twitter, he shared his lighthearted take on the jersey saga. He wrote, “*D**n, at this point imma be out there with just my last name on my jersey, no number. Jkjk, it’s all love. Just wanna play football.”
