    AAC Championship Prediction, 2023

The strength of the American Athletic Conference is heavy at the top. In all likelihood, it comes down to a three-team race for the AAC Championship Game in 2023.

SMU and Memphis are the last teams out in terms of the AAC Championship Game as they split their regular-season game and Memphis losses to Tulane. This gives them identical 1-loss conference records and 9-3 overall records, but lose out to UTSA with the better overall record.

Making matters even more interesting in this no-division AAC for 2023 is the fact that UTSA and Tulane play each other in Week 13 as the regular-season finale. It’s highly likely — and predicted here — that the two programs meet once more in the AAC Championship Game a week later.

Our CFN predictions give Tulane a one-point win in the regular season finale but would ultimately flip to favor the Roadrunners despite the Green Wave’s hosting of a title game, UTSA’s travel is unmatched, and the rematch is predicted to go the other way.

UTSA and QB Frank Harris are given a slight edge against Tulane and QB Michael Pratt. But let us all rejoice in the fact that we could very likely see Harris vs. Pratt in two straight meetings in games that could become instant classics.

The AAC will remember the Alamo once the season is done.

Of note – Tulane’s victory over South Alabama in Week 1 is the only projected loss our predictions have for the Jaguars and the race to be the top-ranked Group of Five team come the season’s end should ultimately come down Tulane, UTSA, or South Alabama.
